Get a visit from one of our volunteers
Do you miss the company of other people? Would you like a companion to do activities with, or do you just need someone to talk to over a cup of coffee?
Then you might be interested in a visit from one of our visiting friends. At LGBT+ Denmark, we offer a completely free and non-binding service that connects volunteers with LGBT+ people around Denmark who seek contact with the outside world. Loneliness affects all of us, especially among the LGBT+ population, where for various reasons people do not always have close contact with those around them.
Through these visits, as a host, you will have the opportunity to talk to another person about what you are struggling with and will be met as who you are without judgement. Perhaps you just feel like you’re missing a friend in everyday life? If so, then this could be an option for you. We will do our best to match you with a visiting friend according to your needs and interests.
Who are the visiting friends?
A visiting friend visits a host who misses company. You usually meet for a few hours about every two weeks. You may meet at home for a cup of coffee, go for a walk, visit a museum, or something completely different – that’s up to you together to decide. Specifically, the visits are about being met at eye level with security, understanding and mutual respect. A visiting friend is not a therapist, but rather a person who can offer company and an invitation to get closer to the outside world.
Shall we visit you?
Everyone is welcome to apply for a visit from one of our volunteers. For the time being, the service is only available in Copenhagen and the surrounding area. You can write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
